mounting disks

hi 
i have ubuntu on my powerbook G4 along with MacOSX in a dual boot
config. i have three partitions, hfs for OSX, ext3 for ubuntu and a
fat32 for ubuntu. i have tried to mount the thrid partition as a
common partition between OSX and ubuntu but it is not doing. OSX does
not let me edit any of my partitions and i have tried to reformat the
fat23 partition to UFS but it is also not working. is there anyway i
can access a partition both between ubuntu and OSX? i have tried using
the hfs/hfsutils which told that they are utils which help mount the
HFS partitions in OSX, but it is not working...

any suggestions please?
