I use rsync at home and I find it works really well. rsync is just a
simple backup command similar to copy but it only copies files that
have changed. It can be loaded from universe I think. I also use a
program call partimage which can create and restore from compressed
image files of a partition. Partimage can also be downloaded from the
universe repository.
