Hi,

if you can`t configure it in your application you can put the kernel module 
in /etc/modules to the position you need.

for example this is my file "modules"
###########
ide-cd
ide-disk
ide-generic
capidrv-capi-fcpci
lp
mousedev
psmouse
sbp2
sr_mod
snd_cmipci         <------------ C-Media onboard sound
snd_usb_audio   <------------Logitech usb-headset
nvidia
############

First device "/dev/dsp" is my onboard sound and second sound device is my 
usb-headset. If you put "snd_usb_audio" before "snd_cmipci" my usb-headset 
will be the first sound device.
