Weird ALSAMixer bug

Try this:
1) Start alsamixer. (It's in the alsa-utils package, if you
don't have it installed.)
2) Put it in the background by pressing Ctrl+Z.
3) Restore it to the foreground by typing 'fg'.
4) Press the right arrow key, which should normally move you
over to the next mixer control.
If your system is like mine, alsamixer will quit. The shell
will give no indication that the process has terminated, 'ps
aux' will not list it among the running processes, and it
will be very much gone.
Does anyone else see this? Can anyone provide an
explanation?
