cups trouble

hello,

my printer is attached to a suse 9.3 box, and it's shared in via ipp. my 
install of ubuntu on my laptop automatically sees the printer, but when 
i try to print something nothing shows up at the printer.

when i go to localhost:631, the printer shows up, but in the description 
area, it says, "Unable to lookup host 'foo' - Unknown host". the 
fully-qualified name is 'foo.bar.com', so i imagine the problem is that 
the printer is advertising just it's host name instead of the 
fully-qualified name. anyone have any idea how to fix?
