Booting from USB 2.0 hdd

Hello List,

Something's gone cooky with onboard IDE so Im using my drives in USB 2.0 enclosures for the time being. I was getting a lot of "ide: failed opcode was: unknown" errors with the drives connected regardless of which drive or IDE channel I used. Everything seems fine now with the drives running in enclosures except that I cant boot directly from the USB enclosed hard drives.

Im using a 120GB enclosed drive. Grub gives "error 18: selected cylinder exceeds maximum supported by BIOS." Is there any way to give grub more info on how to boot this thing. I checked in the BIOS and there's no option for setting LBA for USB drives. Booting from the liveCD then chrooting is getting to be a real PITA.

Regards,
Seth
