I found these apt-get instructions (and they mention Ubuntu):

Title: Mezzo & Orchestra Developer Packages

I am happy to announce the release of our first set of Mezzo and
Orchestra Developer pacakges. These deb packages are available via apt
and should run on most Debian based distros (though they are only tested
internally on Progeny Developers Edition as this will be the basis for
our future releases).

The initial release of these packages contains the same code that is in
A4 with the addition of a x session profile that is used by GDM and KDM
creating an option of logging into a Mezzo session.

Please note: these packages are nowhere near stable and there is still a
lot of knoppix specific stuff in them so there are many features that
will not function properly. As development continues these packages will
continue to be updated two or three times per month if not more often.

Prior to our Beta 1 Release (currently tentatively scheduled for October
1st) I hope to release at least one Beta 1 preview release which will
consist of the updated Mezzo and Orchestra with a Componentized Linux
base and making use of Anaconda for Debian for the installer. These
preview releases will not be released as LiveCDs but Beta 1 will be
available either as a LiveCD and as a Install disc using Anaconda.

Developers are encouraged to use the available debian packages for
development work.

To install Mezzo and Orchestra via apt:

Add the following to your sources.list file

CODE
deb http://archive.progeny.com/symphonyos/apt/ ./

Then as root (or using sudo if on ubuntu)

CODE
apt-get update
apt-get install mezzo orchestra

Then under your regular user account (not as root)

CODE
cp -Rf /etc/skel/.mezzo ~/.
cp -Rf /etc/skel/.mozilla ~/.

This will overwrite your existing firefox profiles.. if you want to
avoid this you can. If you skip that step, the first time you log into a
mezzo session you will be shown the profile manager screen. Create a
profile named "mezzo" and continue.

It has been reported that in at least one instance under ubuntu that
installing the packages did not drop the necessary files into the
/etc/skel directory. If this happens, you can download the .mezzo folder
here and simply extract it in your home directory.

Please report bugs related to these packages on the development mailing
list rather than the forums as these are not official release packages
but rather are intended for developers.

Q: What's the difference between MicroSoft Windows and a virus?
A: Apart from the fact that viruses are supported by their authors,
use optimized, small code and usually perform well, none.
