Vertical flickering bands on analog TFT using i810

Hi,

I can't get the combination of a Philips 170C (17" TFT) connected
analogue to a Intel i810 integrated graphics adapter working properly in
the native resolution of 1280x1024 on Ubuntu Hoary.

According to the specs of the monitor[1] it should run on 1280x1024 at
75Hz, but when I try that, the monitor displays vertical flickering
bands each 2cm. I doesn't matter whether I specify the HorizSync (should
be 30-83 #Khz) and VertRefresh  ( 56-76 #Hz) or not.
