Live cd on Apple ibook 600

Hello all,

on the release notes for the 5.04 I read that a new keyboard layout
detection system has been introduced. This new system should require
to type some characters and on that base it should guess the keyboard
layout.

I downloaded the Live cd 5.04 and I can't see that system. Instead it
asks me to choose a favourite language from a list and then it asks
to choose a location where I'm supposed to be on the base of the
favourite language I choosed, and then it proposes a keyboard layout.

How this difference between what stated and what experienced can be explained ?

Maybe because the Live cd are prepared on different time phases than
the "normal" installation ? If so shouldn't the version number (5.04)
be different ?

Anyhow the Live cd 5.04 for Power PC I downloaded doesn't work.

If I choose Italian as a favourite language, the process reaches the
"Creating user..." phase and it hangs like that indefinitely long

If I choose US English as a favourite language it reaches the
"Configuring graphics hardware..." phase and it hangs again :-(

Thanks anyone for ANY help
Bye
Catonano
