Although wgetting and installing it with dpkg works, the repository
solution offered before is obviously the better choice. This way,
(security) updates will become automatically available through apt /
Synaptic.. the way Debian and Ubuntu were built. If a newer version
becomes available, you'll be told, instead of having to look on the
Skype website yourself.
