Package: binutils
Version: 2.15-5ubuntu2.2
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/strings

I cannot run "strings" on files larger than 2Gb(?):
"
johan at transwarp:~$ du -h core.23485
2,9G core.23485
johan at transwarp:~$ LANG= strings core.23485
strings: Warning: could not locate 'core.23485'. reason: Value too large for defined data type
johan at transwarp:~$
"

I expected "strings" to extract readable strings out of the file, even
though it's large.

AFAICT, strings works fine for smaller files.
