OK, I've had a look, and in the Places->Connect to Server dialog there's
a drop down list called 'Service type' that has two different ftp
entries; one 'Public FTP' that forces it to try anonymous, and one 'FTP
(with login)' that does authenticated. Make sure you're using the latter
since the public one is the default.
