The fluxbox package includes a menu generator: just run

fluxbox-generate_menu

It picks up most apps: not all, by any means. Editing ~/.fluxbox/menu is very easy though- the syntax is pretty self-evident. I usually run fluxbox-generate_menu, then touch it up in an editor. To be sure that further changes won't clobber your menu, you can rename it to something like ~/.fluxbox/mymenu , then point your ~/.fluxbox/init at the mymenu file. There is also a "keys" file in ~/.fluxbox that allows you to set keyboard shortcuts to just about anything you wish.

Fluxbox does require a bit of hacking about to get it as you want it, but once you've got the idea, it is really not time consuming to make the occasional change to a text file.

Very good, readable docs are linked from http://fluxbox.org and can be downloaded in html or pdf in a number of languages. Recommended.

Hope this is useful. Fluxbox can be made to be a very functional and user-friendly WM with a modicum of effort.

Peter
