Places->Connect to Server ... (FTP)

Hello All

I can not connect to a FTP server with Places->Connect to Server ... (FTP).

I am sitting behind a linux firewall which allows active FTP. No problem 
to connect with WS_FTP (UltraEdit, too) on my Windoz Laptop. But on 
Ubuntu I get "The folder contents could not be displayed" if I use 
Places->Connect to Server ... (FTP).

Any hints?
