Hello,
I use alternately Synaptic and apt-get install, show, apt-cache,
apt-search...
People love Synaptic because it is very well done, offers plenty ways to
get information about packages, is very configurable, even with colours
very pratictal to see what package comes from what repository and so on,
it is easyer to change/add some repository than within the
/etc/apt/sources.list file, full with written lines (I think the
commented information lines should be grouped and the repository lines
should be better at the end), they love it because it is beautiful
(toll or not troll ? I find it more beautiful than the GUI meant for the
same use I had under Mandrake) and last but not least, all the people
who understand everything better, being of the visual type people,
appreciate it. I appreciate it very much, and I love the shell too :)
To have both is great for me.
I didn't dare trying aptitude yet, not knowing what's specific about it.
Best greetings, J.Markoll.
