Actually you don't need to do any of that. There's a gconf key that you can set so that your desktop IS your home folder. Go to applications->System Tools->Configuration Editor, then go to apps->nautilus->preferences and put a check next to desktop_is_home_dir. HTH, KIRT -- :q
