memory usage

I do not know squat about Linux or Ubuntu but there was a thread
recently, might check the forums, about the 386 "core" that ships with
Ubuntu and the, I think, 686, which you can download that allows you
to access the expanded ram.  I do not know if it is related to your
memory problem but just a suggestion.
