Swap from GDM to KDM?

When you installed KDE I assume you installed the kubuntu-desktop
package... if so then KDM is installed but just not selected as your
chosen method;

sudo dpkg-reconfigure kubuntu-desktop 

from a terminal should do the trick as it asks you which you want to
run when installing kubuntu-desktop
