Good question.  I've done this several times, and there are definitely
some tricks to it.  Honestly, I don't recommend the graphical tools,
because I don't think they work very well.

What are your trying to connect via ODBC?

If you are trying to connect OpenOffice to a mysql database, I'll send
you a documented version of my files.
