Problems setting up printer

I've done that twice and still no printer.  Both times the printer was on
when I tried to load drivers for it.

A newbie here.  

I had the same problem.  I did a complete clean printer re-install
(with the printer turned on) and it started acting normal.  But this
is an HP so your mileage may vary.  Sorry I can not give you a
detailed technical answer.
