Slow login from GDM

I'm having problem with slow login.  From the point where I've given
my password on the GDM screen, it takes five minutes or so until I get
the Gnome splash.

Note that once logged in, the system runs perfectly, with no problems
whatsoever.  GDM starts without delay so I don't think it's an X
issue.  The logs does not seem to give any indication that there's
something unusual going on.

I had this problem in Warty as well.  I have since changed my
motherboard and CPU but no change.  It is not a problem related to my
user since all users on this box has the same problem.

Do anyone have any hints on how I can debug this problem?  Is there
someway to setup a log of what happens when I log in?  Any pointers
are most welcome; I'm getting a little tired of this.
