xfce - problem with gnome apps

wxvlc worked for me, almost... the m4a files were playing, but there
was on every song it zeroed out every 2 seconds... very choppy. i
tried to get beep-media-player and then install the mpeg4 plugin for
that, but it never worked either. so, i just gave up. i'll stick the
the mp3s i guess...
