Yeahhh !!! :o))))
Thanks...

1.2 Gig an "old mule" :o( I have an Athlon XP 1.45GHz , I guess it's an
old mule too then ?? :o(((
I always thought it was plenty powerful enough...as it hardly ever sees
more than 5% load in Ubuntu, in normal use.
I intend to seriously upgrade the disk subsystem to speed up Gnome, when
money permits, but the motherboard and CPU, I hardly intend to change
before a few years.... my old mule.. :o(

Looks like I like fossiles then... most of my stuff is 7 or 10 year
old... :o(

 - HP Deskjet 660C
 - HP Lasertjet 6P
 - IOMEGA // port ZIP 100MB drive
 - Adaptec 2940 SCSI card
 - AGFA SnapScan 1236s SCSI scanner
 - x12 Plextor SCSI CD Writer
 - Original Microsoft Mouse (only quality mouse that was large enough to
fit my big hand...)
 - Nec MultiSync M700 CRT

Still, I love them all to bits. Only thing I might replace, is the mouse
pad... after 10 years it's really starting to fall into bits :-/

Yes, the Warty Live CD did indeed have a bootsplash...

Yes, this is my view too. Splashy isn't good enough for me yet. I will
follow it's development, to see if it improves, as it's still in its
infancy, though. Then again, seems that Ubuntu is not going to use
Splashy, and will develop something of their own, so I am waiting to see
what it will be like. In the meantime... I welcome your HowTo in the
Wiki... :o)

My daddy w<ill retire and turn 60 in June... if only he could anywhere
near as computer literate as you...but no... he keeps spending fortunes
on Windows software... and keeps telling me how Windows and Microsoft
are technically superior products, and how Bill Gates is clever...
I am trying to talk him into Linux, but I think it's a lost cause.
the more I try to demonstrate to him by A+B how Linux is better than his
Windoze machine and closed source S/W, but he won't listen.
He is lost.
Still, it serves me... he keeps giving me his old peripherals, that
don't work in Windows, or stop working when he upgrade to a newer
Windows version.... and that work fine in Linux !! :o))))))))))
so I get nice stuff for free, he he he !! :o)

Christ !!! That's too big for me... it must take 10 minutes to get the
mouse from one edge of the screen to the other ! ;o)

I run at 1152x864 (my monitor won't mange more than than @75Hz), but
might be tempted, in a few years, by a "wide" screen, something like a
native 1600x960 maybe, if that exists.

Anyway, plese keep us informed of your progress with the bootsplah
HowTo, or anything related to this project ! Thanks in advance... :-)

regards,
