ethernet confusion...

thanks for the hint!  I found the FCC ID # on the side of the card,
googled it, determined it was a cheap clone of a Realtek 8019, which
itself uses the NE2000 drivers; determined that there's a "Plug & Play"
problem with these cards; added "ne" to /etc/modules; and voila!
works great now.
