Make sure you have read/write permission for "/dev/nvidia*".
(I'm assuming that the nvidia kernel module is loaded correctly since
you have your X running but have problem only with GLX.)

Also, check libGL.so.* files.  Run "locate libGL." and see what you get.
Here is mine:
zamb /usr/lib $ locate libGL.
/usr/lib/libGL.so.1
/usr/lib/libGL.so.1.0.7174
/usr/X11R6/lib/nvidia/libGL.so.1.2.xlibmesa

If you get something different, libGL might be your problem.
