I use them with python, mplayer, mencoder (I use marillat package wich 
includes mencoder), liblame (optional if you just use ac3 passthru; from 
marillat too), and libcss, .

I'm sure python could be avoided using bc, but... I just love python!

I would be happy to hear from you for comments / requests / bugs about the 
script.
