It depends on how much of an expert you are.  The PVR250/350 cards seem
to be very good, but don't work 'out-of-the-box'.  They require
a lot of compiling and dependency resolution to get a driver and
software combination working. Too much for me.

I had one, couldn't get it to work, and ditched it for a cheap, bog
standard, bttv card that has very simple functionality, but works
without much trouble. But it sounds as though that's not what you want.

The standard distributions are not very good at TV yet.
