I need this functionality too...
I'd love to write this script, but I needto first understand how to make a
dvd.
I tried dvdauthor, but I don't know what file format does it understand.
I know it wnat mpeg2 video, bat what mpeg format??

If someone could help me understanding what to do, I would write a script to
atomatically create a DVD from any media source.

I forgot to mention that the script I mailed can do
- 3 pass encoding (vbr)
- automatic cropdetection
- create a file big just 1 or 2 CD
- fast test for preview
