Solved (was: Re: Hoary upgrade: no network connection)

I just blacklisted the tulip module to prevent from loading into
kernel. The NIC is identified as

$ lspci | grep -i tulip
0000:00:08.0 Ethernet controller: Davicom Semiconductor, Inc. 21x4x
DEC-Tulip compatible 10/100 Ethernet (rev 40)

and works fine with the dmfe modul. But both---tulip and
dmfe---modules were loaded. Blacklisting tulip helped to get network
work again. Is it worth a bug report?
