No, I didn't install any of them.
For ubuntu-base depends on a lot of packages that I don't need at all,
such as ppp lvm etc.
As your suggestion, I install grepmap, but I found no differences, at
least at boot time. what is grepmap used for?
I found another package 'discover'. It is discribed as:
hardware identification system
Discover is a hardware identification system based on the libdiscover2
library. Discover provides a flexible interface that programs can
use to report a wide range of information about the hardware that is
installed on a Linux system. In addition to reporting information,
Discover includes support for doing hardware detection at boot time.
I've installed it. And it load the proper module, such as snd-ymfpci,
uhci-hcd etc, before the hotplug script start.
So, my question is:
As discover is already load the modules, is it necessary to run
/etc/init.d/hotplug at boot time?
If I disable it, a lot of boot time will be saved.
What is the consequnces if I disable it at boot time. Can I use
hotplug devices, such as USB storage, at running time nomally?
