MySQL Error

Thanks, I'd already found the debian.cnf. Somehow MySQL didn't have
the correct password. I cut and pasted the password I found in the
debian.cnf file and told MySQL to use that. I can now log in as the
debian user. Is this password used on all debian machines or is it
randomly generated at installation time?
Also, if I change this password is there anything else this user does
that this might break? I'm still learning how debian does stuff.
