how to crop black bars in movies on the fly?

i have a powerbook with a (one pixel off) 3:2 ratio screen (1280x854), so i get the problem on a few dvds that in encoded at 4:3 black bars.
in xine i press 'f' to go full screen, 'g' to hide the controls, and i think 'z' to zoom in untill the edges of the picture reach the edge of the screen.
