altering the order of sound cards

Hi
I have 2 sound cards in my machine (1 PCI, 1 onboard)...how can I alter the order they are used
such as hw:0,0 goes to hw:1,0 and vice versa... There is no alsaconfig so how can i make this type
of alteration?
