Careful with modifying configuration files by hand.  It can create
problems with debconf.  I don't know if the situation has improved
recently, but in the past, manually editing a file would make debconf
(or dpkg-reconfigure) silently fail to update files.  Upgrades usually
rely on accurate data in the debconf system.
