I hate to say this, but I find that an "up2date" Debian system is
difficult to stablize because of library contradictions and dependency
problems overlooked by creators of binaries. Ubuntu is just the
opposite. The problem is that to have a resonably modern system, users
were obliged to remainin "testing land" and beyond which is quite
allright if the user is ready for the surprises of a mixed environment.
This is not a reflection on the Debian developers however. The
methodology is slightly different and often a function of internal
politics. Debian remains for me a sort of "control", much like controls
in a laboratory. And I find Debian "politics" disgusting, as I usually
find all politics in all domains. I use Ubuntu because it suits my
purposes better than Debian and because I know any constructive
feedback will be politely heard.
