Dual monitor (LCD) support

I've installed 5.04 on a desktop. All went well except for enabling dual monitor support. 
I've a Radeon 9700 Pro with 2 LCD's hanging of it. At the moment I have 2  cloned 
desktops, whereas I'd like to have 2 seperate workspaces ala Win XP. Even just having one 
large desktop would be OK. For me, a cloned desktop is useless. I've tried many different 
xorg.conf combo's as per Ubuntu forum suggestions & google searches but to no avail. Does 
anyone have any ideas or even better a working config for 2 x LCD & a 9XXXX card?
