OK Apt-got build-essential. ./Configure finds GCC, G++, and lots other stuff. Finally hangs with checking for X... no configure: error: "You must have X installed" Any ideas? or will I stick with Synaptic from now on. I would rather sort this out and in doing so become a little bit wiser about the whole linux thing. -- alastair lewis
