Ubuntu Mini-RAM HOWTO

I have managed to install the following on a Toshiba Satellite PentII
based machine using 96 megs of RAM with only a 1.2 gb partition set
aside for /

fluxbox
xfce4
kde 3.4
gedit
synaptic
firefox
dillo
gdm

I still have about 600 megs left free for other things.
My sources list is all from hoary and the xfce4 repositories were added
later.

Xfce4 works nicely.  Firefox takes a little while to start up, but is
quite useable.  Using fluxbox, and dillo, the system flies.  Wireless,
and wired networking works.  Only sound is an issue.  My OPLSA3 based
Yamaha sound card does not work at all.
