synaptic problem upgrading gaim

when i tried to update gaim tonight i got the
following message in my synaptic "applying changes"
window:

Setting up gaim (1.1.2-3ubuntu1-4.10ubpl) ...
rmdir: '/usr/share/doc/gaim': No such file or
directory
dpkg: error processing gaim (--configure):
 subprocess post-installation script returned error
exit status 1

Failed to apply all changes! Scroll in this buffer to
see what went wrong


Could anybody point me in the right direction to
seeing what the problem is an how to fix it?  Is there
a manual somewhere that would help me decifer these
problems in the future?
