Methods of doing one thing or another are increasingly being patented.
Several large companies do nothing other than scoop up these patents and
live off the licensing rights. At a time when some people are trying to
foster an open source attitude, the drive to patent has become insanely
intense. Go ahead and patent your work, but charge zero for licensing
would be the best stance to take. This way, people can use your
application and you will be protected from being ripped-off.
