Are you running the live CD or have you installed Ubuntu on an free partition? I hard big problems with Ubuntu Live CD on my G3 Powerbook Pismo so real essential things didn't work - touchpad - wifi card ... but I liked it much more than my before linux debian sarge (ubuntu is much nicer set up) so I gave it another try to install ubuntu. So scpetical from the live cd experience I tried it first on a test maschine with a unused (or better said video cache - I do some video editing) hard disk. Everything worked out of the box, I couldn't believe it. Then the system running on my laptop had a bad crash and that was the start for installing ubuntu there....
I didn't have the trouble I used to have with the live CD - Everything worked out of the box - I got touchpad support - Wifi works great - even better than under my former OS (MacOS x) and so on. Ok it lacks a bit in multimedia support on the powerpc hardware but that won't matter to you because you're using a pc and there possebilities with multimedia are much richer - and I'm positive this will be worked out for powerpc too.
One more thing to say till I installed Ubuntu I never booted an other system anymore - I had no need for it....

Rainer
