Succes with Hoary..... and a problem

i was having a similar problem, but it resovled itself after the
computer sat on my network for a little while. i don't know exactly
what made it work... i did completely disable dhcp and just made the
machine speciy its own network properties, but that may only work in
my instance (cable internet through a cheap belkin router).
