Enable the Xfce Session option to load GNOME helpers. That will
(restore) a bit of functionality. You will also need to use
gnome-volume-manager if you want that mount behaviour.

Xfce uses sensible-browser, so simply set your $BROWSER to whichever
web browser you wish.

Coincidentally, Xfce 4.2.1 includes a menu _and_ a MIME editor.
