Ooops sorry, my mistake ! :-/
I was checking xpdf, which as very minimalistic printing functions...
But gpdf is more advanced in this regard, and can print 2 or 4 pages on
a single sheet, you are right. 
However, I didn't find an option to print odd/even pages, so I still
couldn't print manuals. Normally I would print say 200 odd pages, let it
print, then take the whole lot, put it back in the tray, print all the
even pages, and it would give me a lovely manual with very little effort
on my part...

So gpdf still needs :

1) text and graphic selection tools (clipboard)
2) ability to print odd/even pages.

I will put that on my wish list for Breezy :o)
