this is mplayerplugin-specific and has nothing to do with ubuntu.
you can experience this in 
	{punt any of the 386 distros listed at distrowatch }
too.
a simple reload or go back and forward in the browser resolves this.
i've seen this behaviour first quite a time ago and no matter on what
distribution i tried it, the same behaviour occurs.
