deb http://backports.ubuntuforums.org/backports hoary-backports main
universe multiverse restricted

to your /etc/apt/sources.list. Replace hoary with warty if necessary.
Now you will be able to apt-get it. Backports is a project to provide
updated versions of apps, but is not an official ubuntu project, so use
at your own risk. I've never had any trouble with it myself and
recommend it.
