Windows partition desktop icon disappearing

Boys, I am not sure I understand, please enlighten me ! :-)

I have Win XP and Warty on one drive, and Hoary on separate drive. Right
now I am in Hoary, it's updated at least once a day etc.
Do you mean that Hoary should put me 3 icons on my desktop, one for my
FAT/windows partition, and one for the Warty / partition and a third one
for the Warty /home partition ? Even if I have not mounted them
manually ? I have never seen this in HOary...not today, not last week,
never. What's wrong with ym Hoary, what's broken or missing ?? :o(
