Hi all,
I am running on the Hoary RC from the other day and just about
everything is working great. The whole system is looking and feeling
really good.
My CD-RW/DVD+/-RW drive does work with DMA turned on but it is not on
by default. After every reboot DMA gets turned off. I added "hdparm -d
1 /dev/hdc" to a startup script to turn it on for me when my machine
boots up but it would be nice if Hoary already knew this so I don't
have to manually do it. I found:
https://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3672
which lead me to
http://www.ubuntulinux.org/wiki/HardwareDatabase
and I wondered in what way I could help. I know Oli is working on the
Ubuntu Device Database, but I noticed that someone metioned building a
SQL backend. I've done quite a bit of DB dev and I would love to help
build such a backend if someone has not already started/completed it.
Please let me know if I can help in anyway.
If not, is there some info I can send that would help this process
along? I already submitted my hw data vi oli's app.
Thanks,
Matt
