Newbe Install boots to command line

I downloaded and installed "warthog" and all seemed OK.  Phase 2 (after boot from hdd) behaved sensibly, flashed something about an error during the update from the web process, stayed in the update app.  I quit the app, and got a command line login prompt.  login with my name and word and get a command line.  Now what????
