Can remote users control the scanner(s) too?

Does this mean that remote users (users not at the console) will be able to 
control the scanner(s)?  That doesn't sound like a good thing to me -- I'd hate 
to be interrupted in what I'm doing because someone is remotely preventing me 
from using the scanner(s).

Would it be wise or possible to only add the user at the console to the scanner 
group when they login (then remove that user from the scanner group when they 
logout)?
